FIAT GRANDE PUNTO FACELIFT

Fiat’s baby, the Grande Punto has got a new facelift along with a new petrol engine making it under the hood. The new Grande Punto Facelift has been slated for an unveiling at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The Grande Punto was first introduced in 2005 and later on in 2009 got a facelift in the form of the Punto Evo. And now the current facelift although a minor one, still manages to make a good looking car an even better one.

Starting with the visual upgrades, the headlights have become slightly bigger, the chrome on the bonnet disappears and a new bumper now incorporates a new honeycomb grille. At the side, the alloy wheels have been changed and now sport 14-spokes (earlier model had 12-spokes). The rear has very little changes with slight changes in bumper and tail lights.

As for the better part of the Fiat Grande Punto Facelift, the engines, on offer will be the highly acclaimed 1.3 liter FIAT Multijet diesel engine along with Fiat’s path breaking MultiAir petrol engine. Now, the 1.3 liter diesel mill gets some tweaking to the turbo charger to bump up peak power from 75 to 85 Bhp coupled with a host of fuel saving technologies like a variable oil pump and an intelligent alternator to further boost fuel economy to a stupendous 28 KMPL. The 900cc twin cylinder turbopetrol engine is good for 85 Bhp of peak power and a very torquey 145 Nm of peak twist. This engine will be mated to a six speed manual gearbox.
