August 17, 2011 this is a date for all auto enthusiasts in India to watch out for. First we have the most anticipated launch of the year, the new Maruti Swift’s launch slated on the 17th of August and now there has been an official confirmation from Volkswagen India that the company will be launching the new Jetta in India on the 17th of August.
Basically a D-Segment car, the new Volkswagen Jetta will be taking on the likes of Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Laura, Honda Civic and Renault Fluence. Right from looks to the range of engines, the new Volkswagen Jetta is expected to raise the bar significantly over the older model. While the older Jetta looked downright boring, the New Jetta, though still an average looker, comes with typical Volkswagen lines, read solid and clean.
The new Jetta would boast not just a more powerful engine, but a bigger size, more features and better equipment as well. Topping the features list would be the 6-speed DSG auto transmission. Apart from that, the long list of the Laura’s advanced features will be applicable to the new Jetta as well. It is expected that the diesel variant of new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta will come hitch on with a 2.0L TDI diesel engine where as the petrol variant will come affixed with a 1.8L TSI petrol engine.
