TATA PLANING TO LAUNCH NANO DIESEL EARLY 2012
Almost two years after launching the petrol version of its small creation Tata Nano in the Indian market, Indian auto giant Tata Motors is now planning to launch the diesel version of this car in the country.The engine capacity of the Nano Diesel is speculated to be in the range of 600 to 700 cc and the Nano Diesel will boast the world’s smallest Bosch Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) system.
The Tata Nano diesel will be the smallest diesel run car in the Indian market as so far there are only petrol run cars available in the starting range segments A (Maruti 800) and A+ (Maruti Alto). Tata Nano diesel will be the only such car in the country and will thus create a segment of its own in the Indian auto market.

The Tata Nano diesel would be rolled-out with a small size diesel engine with a capacity in the range of 600 to 700 CC. It will be a two-cylinder engine which will incorporate a 4-speed manual transmission. While the super small turbo system for Nano has been developed by Honeywell, the small size
Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) system for this small wonder has been designed by Bosch. The other partners who have made a considerable contribution in this diesel engine development project include AVL, FEV and Ricardo. The car is expected to carry a 30 liter fuel tank and top speed of the car would be 90 km/hr.
